Summary

Chris Berardini is a Founding Principal of Iron Bridge Strategies, LLC, a DC-based boutique international government affairs firm. With over 13 years as Chief of Staff for members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Chris Berardini has extensive experience in and knowledge of the inner workings of Capitol Hill and has a proven track record of successful advocacy for private sector clients.

Iron Bridge Strategies offers traditional issues and private sector advocacy, but also offers sovereign representation to foreign nations with a specialization in Middle Eastern and African nations. This niche specialization is possible because of Berardini’s expertise and experience in dealing with foreign governments. While working on the Hill, Berardini was responsible for the establishment of multiple Congressional Friendship Caucuses and also served as a liaison between sovereign nations and the U.S. Congress.

In his role of Chief of Staff, Berardini also turned his attention to domestic matters. He was responsible for the drafting and political strategy behind several prominent pieces of legislation which were ultimately passed into law, including the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014, the Disaster Relief Act of 2013, and the New York City Natural Gas Supply Enhancement Act. Berardini utilized his policy expertise in drafting this legislation, but also demonstrated his deep knowledge of political strategy by skillfully building coalitions that were crucial to shepherding these laws through the House and Senate.

Berardini understands the value of building relationships for successful policy implementation and for effective legislative and government affairs advocacy. He has long demonstrated his skill at building relationships and coalitions, both on Capitol Hill and in his outside government affairs work. Crucially important to clients is that Berardini still maintains a robust network of Capitol Hill influencers, particularly within the House Financial Services and Senate Banking Committees, the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees, the House Energy & Commerce Committee and the Senate Commerce, Judiciary and Appropriations Committees. These relationships, as well as his network of corporate stakeholders, positions Berardini well to strategically and successfully advocate for clients across a variety of sectors.

Before founding Iron Bridge Strategies, Berardini worked as an in-house lobbyist, serving as Vice President of Government Affairs and Lead Lobbyist for Quicken Loans and its 140 affiliated companies. In this capacity, he was responsible for lobbying all members of both political parties to both promote and prevent legislation to protect the interests of Quicken Loans. In doing so, he again demonstrated his ability to build, lead, and work with influential coalitions. During his time with Quicken Loans, Berardini worked with prominent coalition partners such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Financial Services Roundtable, Mortgage Bankers Association, Internet Association, and American Land Title Association.

Berardini also put his knowledge of the political landscape and political giving strategies to use for Quicken Loans, serving as the primary advisor for the over $1 million donated by the Quicken Loans PAC and senior executives during the 2016 election cycle.

In addition to his professional experience, Berardini has an impressive academic resume. He earned his M.A. in Political Management with a focus on Corporate Affairs from The George Washington University. He earned a B.A. in Public Affairs and Policy Management with a focus in Comparative Politics and Area Studies from Carleton University, as well as a second B.A. in Law with a focus on International Trade and Investment Law. Clients of Iron Bridge Strategies benefit from his years of education and of legislative experience, as well as his policy knowledge, his strategic expertise, and his vast network on Capitol Hill and in corporate America.

Berardini also puts his skill set to use outside of politics, giving of his time and talent to several organizations. He is on the Board of Directors for the National Italian American Foundation, and also serves on the Leadership Committee of both the March of Dimes and the Trust for the National Mall.
